Pure and Uncomplicated Thoughts

Last summer my Goddaughter and her husband and two young sons came to our beach town for their vacation. Their little boys were four and six years old then. While they were here, there began to be some conversation regarding the possibility of a move for them as a family to the beach. It was so much fun to listen to the adults talk about their feelings about the beach and the ocean and the life style of those who inhabit our little beach town. My Goddaughter was so touched by seeing a mom and her kids arrive at the grocery store on bikes…all of them. She thought it was just so cool that after shopping, everything was placed in the bike-baskets and off they went. She, at that moment, decided that she and her boys could do that too. There was a certain excitement in her voice…that of recognizing the presence of a true possibility.

During their time here, one of the boys, JD, said, “Mom, are we living in California now?” She answered by saying, “No we don’t live here. We are just here on our vacation, honey”. JD responded by asking, “Well, are we in California?” “Yes, we are” she answered. His next question was, “Are we living?” She laughed and answered, “Yes”. His understanding was clear…he was indeed “living in California” regardless of what the grown-ups were saying.

What I love most about this story is the pure thought process that children use. They just take what’s before them and come to the most obvious conclusion, which more times than not, are truths…children get it!!! It all seemed quite simple to him…I’m in California and I’m living! Well, out of the mouths of babes often come the uncomplicated truths that fill our world. Maybe the adults of the world would be wiser and happier if we would process our information in the same way? Just because we have the ability to think endlessly about something and rationalize beyond any real need, doesn’t mean that we should!!

They had a wonderful time “living in California”. As a matter of fact, their time was so wonderful that they made arrangements to sell their house and relocate to the beach. This is a perfect example of pure potentiality. Where there is a desire and a belief, all things are possible. Recently, JD was reported to have said, “Mom, this place just makes my Soul feel good.” Thank you for the wisdom, JD…welcome to the beach!!
